Over 1,000 Rotary Delegates And The Presidential CEO Forum Members Tour The Kiira Vehicle Plant During Historic 100th District Conference

In a landmark event coinciding with the Rotary District 9213’s Centennial Conference, a delegation of over 1,000 Rotary members and the Presidential CEO Forum have visited Uganda’s Kiira Vehicle Plant in Jinja.
The information tour, with the Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Monica Musenero as the Chief Guest, alongside key state officials, Rotary District 9213 Governor Ann Nkutu, and Presidential CEO Forum Board Chairman Emmanuel Katongole (Rotary International Director Nominee), underscored the significant strides Uganda is making in the mobility industry and its potential for economic growth and job creation.
The visit provided a unique opportunity for the delegates to witness firsthand the progress and innovation taking place at the Kiira Vehicle Plant, the most advanced bus manufacturing plant in Africa.

The delegates were guided through the stages of the production process from frame and body manufacturing, paint shop operations for corrosion protection and decoration as well as chassis systems, trim and final assembly processes, gaining insights into the engineering prowess and technological advancements being implemented in the development and production of vehicles made in Uganda.
This information tour served as a crucial platform to showcase Uganda’s industrial capacity demonstrating the nation’s commitment to industrialization and its ability to develop and manufacture sophisticated green mobility products like Kayoola buses .

The tour further highlighted technological advancement illustrated by the integration of modern technology and innovation in the manufacturing process at the Kiira Vehicle Plant-the boggest in East and Central Africa.
The Visit was aimed at fostering collaboration and partnerships by connecting Rotary leaders and business executives with the government and the mobility industry, paving the way for potential collaborations and investments.
Speaking at the conclusion of the tour, Dr. Musenero stated thus , “The Kiira Vehicle Plant represents a significant leap forward for Uganda’s industrialization agenda. We are proud of the innovation and dedication demonstrated here, and we are committed to providing the necessary support for its continued growth. The presence of Rotary leaders and the Presidential CEO Forum today underscores the importance of collaboration between government, business, and civil society in driving national development.”

Dr. Musenero emphasized the plant’s role in utilizing local talent and resources, contributing to job creation and economic empowerment within Uganda. “ We want to make Uganda the best and most technologically advanced country in the region. We are building big brands that we shall sell to the capital cities of the world,” She emphasized.
Rotary District 9213 Governor, Ann Nkutu stated that, “This visit has been truly inspiring. To witness the ingenuity and hard work being put into the Kiira Project aligns perfectly with Rotary’s commitment to fostering economic development and creating opportunities. We are eager to explore how Rotary can further support this transformative initiative.”
