New judge takes over Katanga murder case as widow seeks bail
Molly Katanga, the woman accused of killing her husband ,Henry Katanga has for the third time applied for bail this time before a new judge , Comfort Kania, who has taken over the hearing of the high profile murder case.
The accused ‘s defense lawyers, led by Jet Tumwebaze and Elison Karuhanga, filed a new bail application for Molly Katanga, which is scheduled to be heard on February 7, 2025.
Thus far , Molly Katanga’s bail applications have been turned down d by Justice Muwata who ruled that no exceptional circumstances- such as illness had been proved by her the defence team..
,Deputy Registrar Festo Nsenga informed the parties in the case that Judge Kania had taken over from judge, Isaac Muwata, who is reported to be ill.
Molly Katanga, along with her two daughters, Martha Nkwanzi and Patricia Kakwanza, Charles Otai (a medic), and George Amanyire (a shamba boy at the Katanga residence), are accused of murdering Henry Katanga on November 3, 2023.
Already the prosecution has produced ten witnesses who have testified against Molly Katanga.
