MUSEVENI NAMES LT.GEN. LAKARA TO TAKE CHARGE OF UGANDA AIR CARGO
In a concerted effort to restore order in public service ,President Yoweri Museveni has gone back to his reliable constituency the army and appointed Gen. Nakibus Lakara as the new General Manager of Uganda Air Cargo Corporation (UAAC) replacing Eng Frank Kyankya.
Lt Gen James Mugira, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Enterprise Corporation, the business arm of the armed forces, has been appointed to the UAAC Board.
Sources say that the shake-up in leadership at UAAC is intended to improve management at the organization to ensure efficiency and increased revenue generation for government.
UPDF and other agencies use UACC’s services to carry out critical rescue missions and transport services for troop deployment to the UN backed peacekeeping mission in Mogadishu Somalia.
Uganda Air Cargo was created in 1994 and is managed under the Defense and Veteran Affairs Ministry. It provides travel bureau, air charter and cargo transport services.
