Kisoro Aerodrome Runway To Be Repaired-CAA
Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has come out to clarify that the damaged Kisoro Aerodrome runway will be repaired soon .
Below is the statement from the UCAA Manager Public Affairs .
Reference is made to a trending letter about Kisoro Aerodrome. In line with the aviation industry’s just culture, it is normal practice for an operator to point out areas that require improvement to address a safety concern.
Nevertheless, prior to receiving the letter from Aerolink, the Authority had identified the safety concerns, and procured a contractor to undertake the Runway, Taxiway and Apron resurfacing. The Contractor is on site mobilising to start undertaking works this month.
In the medium term, Government, through UCAA plans to upgrade the Kisoro Aerodrome runway from its current runway length of 1200 metres to a longer runway. The pre-feasibility studies were completed, and the Ministry of Works and Transport and UCAA are planning to undertake full feasibility, engineering designs and environmental and social impact assessment studies.
