Kiira Motors Delivers Two More Electric Premium Buses To UCAA, STI Minister Musenero Says The Vehicles Are Affordable And With Mature Technology
Uganda’s mobility industry flagship ,Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC) has delivered another two premium 13 -meter buses to off -takers Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA.)
The two fully electric buses the first of a kind in sub-Saharan Africa were handed over at a ceremony presided over by the Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Monica Musenero, at the just concluded National E-Mobility Expo held at the Kiira Vehicle Plant (KVP) in Jinja.
Authorities at the UCAA said the brand new electric buses will compliment their existing fleet and shall align seamlessly with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) -a long term goal of achieving net-zero aviation carbon emissions by 2050 to which UCAA subscribes.

The colourful handover was a testament to Uganda’s progress in e-mobility and a commitment to the Buy Uganda, Build Uganda (BUBU) policy and the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) agenda.
The Kayoola EVS buses -2025 model equally represent Uganda’s burgeoning capability to design, engineer, and produce world-class electric vehicles. The vehicles are a meticulously crafted solution tailored for the vibrant rhythm of African cities.
The e-coaches have a capacity of 64 passengers and cover a distance of 500km on a single charge.

Minister of STI , Dr. Monica Musenero said that Uganda’s transition to clean mobility was gathering momentum , and her ministry was proud to be part of the transformation . She highlighted Uganda’s growing capacity in green technology manufacturing and adoption.
Musenero noted that Kiira Motor’s electric coaches are not only environmentally friendly but are also affordable comparable to other traditional buses on the market.
In comments made on behalf of the UCAA, Director General (DG), Mr. Fred Bamwesigye , the organisation’s Procurement Manager, Tumuhimbise ,the Kayoola EVS will be used to support UCAA’s commitment to climate and environmental protection, in line with the Long-Term Aspirational Goal (LTAG) of achieving net-zero aviation carbon emissions by 2050.

“As we reflect on the transformative journey of strategic investment in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) as a key driver of Uganda’s projected tenfold economic expansion by 2040, UCAA reaffirms its support and commitment to KMC’s e-mobility innovation, “ she stated .
UCAA’s Principal Transport and Maintenance Officer, Eng. Nicholas Tayebwa , said the Authority was happy to operate vehicles made in Uganda.
According to Tayebwa, by operating electric buses produced locally will greatly steer UCAA away from carbon emissions and reduce operation costs while promoting sustainable transportation in Uganda.

UCAA should be hailed by all Ugandans for being one of the first government entities to purchase buses from Kiira Motors Corporation . Tayebwa said that UCAA will purchase a total of eight electric buses from KMC to meet its E-mobility needs .
About this new Kayoola 2025- 13-meter model buses
The fully electric bus has a range of up to 500 kilometres on a single charge , a spacious 64-seated passenger capacity, and a suite of modern amenities including Wi-Fi, HVAC, USB-charging ports, ECAS, CCTV, and an inclusive design ensuring comfort and accessibility for all.
