James Ereemye, the new Judiciary spokesperson
The Chief Justice of Uganda, Alfonse Owiny-Dollo has appointed Mr James Jumire Ereemye Mawanda , the new Judiciary spokesperson .
Ereemye, has been acting Registrar in charge of magistrates’ affairs and data management. He replaces Justice Jamson Karemani who was appointed High Court Judge.
“In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Chief Justice under Article 133 of the Constitution and in accordance with Section 3 (a) of the Administration of the Judiciary Act, I hereby assign you as public relations officer of the Judiciary, in addition to your duties as a Registrar,” the letter signed by the Chief Justice reads in part.
The Judiciary Chief Registrar Sarah Langa Siu welcomed Ereemye’s appointment saying the judiciary is keen to keep its public outreach programs and continuous interface with the Ugandan people they serve.
Ereemye profile
Ereemye is a career Judicial Officer who has 27 years working experience from magistrate grade III trainee, magistrate grade II, magistrate grade I, Chief Magistrate, Deputy Registrar, and Acting Registrar.
He is also a member of the Law Council and the Disciplinary Committee of the Law Council, and a Committee Member on the Executive of the Uganda Judicial Officers Association as a representative of registrars.
With a career spanning 27 years, Ereemye is a Judicial Officer who has risen through the ranks from magistrate grade III trainee, magistrate grade II, magistrate grade I, Chief Magistrate, Deputy Registrar, and Acting Registrar.
Ereemye is also a member of the Law Council and the Disciplinary Committee of the Law Council, and a Committee Member on the Executive of the Uganda Judicial Officers Association as a representative of registrars.
He is also a member of the Judiciary Council representing the Lower Bench.
The Judiciary Council is an advisory body to the Chief Justice established under the Administration of the Judiciary Act, 2020.
