Uganda ‘s CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has met with NBA Africa CEO Claire Akamanzi in Kigali to advance basketball development in Uganda.
Building on earlier discussions held in Uganda in March, the talks focused on a proposal to partner with the Ministry of Education and Sports to establish a Junior NBA League.
The programme will develop basketball skills while instilling teamwork, discipline, leadership, and a strong work ethic among the youth.
This engagement forms part of NBA Africa’s broader continental strategy to collaborate with governments and the private sector in sports infrastructure and related sectors.
Ugandan clubs City Oilers and Namuwongo Blazers have already competed in the Basketball Africa League, underscoring the growing potential of the sport in our country.
