GEN. MUHOOZI BACK IN RWANDA TO HAVE REMAINING BORDER RESTRICTIONS REMOVED
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba is in Rwanda for a series of meetings with President Paul Kagame for what sources intimated was a renewed diplomatic effort by Kampala to have the remining restrictions on border crossing and trade removed. Accompanied by his long time friend and strategist journalist Andrew Mwenda, Gen. Muhoozi flew on a charted Uganda Airlines flight .
This is the first state assignment since Muhoozi was dropped by President Yoweri Museveni as Commander of Uganda’s Land Forces following offending tweets against neighboring Kenya. Both President Museveni and Muhoozi have since apologized to Kenya for the tweets gone wrong.
This is the third time Muhoozi is visiting Rwanda and holding high level diplomatic talks with President Kagame since the two sister countries closed their borders following counter accusations of espionage more than two years ago. Before he traveled to Rwanda Gen. Muhoozi tweeted again thus ,” I might not be CLF anymore but our commitment to Rwanda are unchanged ! Any threat to Rwanda is a threat to Uganda .”
