Electoral Commission Releases Official Register Of 27 National Political Parties Ahead Of 2026 General Elections

The Electoral Commission (EC) has published the official register of all political parties legally recognized in Uganda, setting the stage for the 2026 general elections. The register, released in accordance with the Political Parties and Organisations Act, confirms the entities duly cleared to operate and field candidates.

The EC emphasized that only organizations on this list are authorized to carry out political activities, underscoring the need for compliance with legal requirements such as updated offices, leadership structures, and official contacts.

It is yet to be seen whether all the 27 parties will participate in the lections given that some have been dormant for years .
