EC Boss Justice Byabakama Mobilises Ugandans For LC 1 Elections During Mass At Rubaga Cathedral
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Justice Sumin Byabakama Mugenyi has today joined the faithful for Holy Mass at Rubaga Cathedral, where he encouraged citizens to actively participate in the forthcoming Local Council I & II and Women Council/Committees Elections.
He emphasized peaceful participation, civic responsibility and making informed electoral choices, and called on all Ugandans to support the Commission’s efforts to deliver free, fair and credible elections.

Justice Byabakama urged eligible Ugandans to register during the 5-day national exercise running from July 6 to July 10, 2026. Only registered residents can vote or run for LC1 Chairperson or Women’s Council positions.

He advised voters to remain at their respective polling stations after casting their ballots to witness the counting of votes and ensure total transparency.
He cautioned incumbent village chairpersons against padding the register with non-residents and urged the community to remain vigilant.
Archbishop Ssemogerere used the platform to call on the Electoral Commission to build public trust by strictly ensuring election outcomes accurately reflect the will of the voters.
