Beer Price Officially Raised
Uganda Breweries has announced increases in the price of most of its products, citing the rising cost of production and raw materials.
Effective from today 4th May, retailers will buying a case of Bell Lager at Shs 66,000 which translates to 2,640 (500ml)a bottle. Popular brands in smaller bottles will cost 69,500 per case of Tusker Lite, Tusker Malt (330ml) translating to sh2,780 a bottle, the same for Guinness (300ml).Smirnoff Ice will remain at its cost of Sh71,500 a case translating to Sh2,860 a bottle.
Releasing the new prices, the company thanked the customers for their support and partnership. There is not price recommended for the consumers as that is left to the retailers. In the high end hotels, any brand of beer is sold for over sh10,000 a bottle while most local popular joints charge only sh3,500 a bottle for all beer brands. Many actually sell three bottles for sh10,000.
The second and other brewers are yet to announce new prices, generally attributed to the Russia – Ukraine war.
