Balaba Replaces Late Muhakanizi As New Permanent Secretary Office Of The Prime Minister
Mr. Dunstan Balaba, who has been the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Buikwe district, has assumed office as the new permanent secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).
President Yoweri Museveni appointed him recently to replace Keith Muhakanizi, who died of cancer in April 2023 aged 64.

Balaba is a seasoned civil servant with over 32 years of experience. Before his recent deployment to OPM, he was serving as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Buikwe District.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja expressed a warm welcome to Mr. Balaba, who assumes the role left vacant by the late Keith Muhakanizi, the former Permanent Secretary who passed away in April 2023.
The OPM has faced challenges in the past, particularly with corruption scandals involving Permanent Secretaries. In June 2023, the Inspectorate of Government (IG) arrested six senior officials from the OPM, accusing them of abuse of office.
The first Deputy Prime Minister , Rebecca Kadaga , second Deputy Prime Minister ,Gen. Moses Ali and Commissioner Human Resource , Patrick Okello attended the handover ceremony .
