The Life And Times of Veteran Politician Henry Kyemba 84

Veteran politician  and the author of one of Uganda’s best selling books “State Of Blood, Henry Kyemba  died at 84  following a long illness .

Kyemba who served three presidents Obote I, Idi Amin and Yoweri Museveni ,succumbed to diabet, according to family sources .

The polished retired  civil servant served as  permanent secretary, private personal secretary to Obote I, Idi Amin and cabinet minister in the Idi Amin  and Museveni administrations.

Kyemba  was  part of a delegation that travelled with  Obote to Singapore in 1971 only to learn later that Idi Amin had overthrown his boss.

In his book “State Of  Blood: The Inside Story Of Idi Amin ”,  Kyemba revealed how during  Amin ‘s brutal regime the bodies of  the late Archbishop Janan Luwum , Ministers Erinayo Wilson Oryema and Charles Oboth Fumbi were found riddled with bullets .

Kyemba was born on 8th February 1939 to Suzana Babirizangawo Mutekanga and Suleiman Kisajja,  in the Bunya County in Busoga.

He went to Busoga College Mwiri for his Cambridge School Certificate (1951-1956) and Makerere University between 1957 and 1962 graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) History and later a master’s degree in history from Northwestern University.

Family  sources said he will be buried at the family’s burial grounds in Wanyama Village, Bugembe Ward ,Jinja North Division , Jinja City .
