NEW DRIVING PERMITS TO BE ISSUED AT UGANDA RAILWAYS BUILDING
New driving permits will be issued at Uganda Railways building on Nasser Road in Kampala after new company took over from Face Technologies that has been offering such services at their Kyambogo offices .
Information Minister, Ms. Judith Nabakooba in her weekly media briefings advised the public to visit the Ministry of Works and Transport website to get information about the new changes and guidelines on how to apply and renew driving permits.
Last week Parliament presided over Speaker Rebecca Kadaga called upon government not to arrest people with out driving permits until the transition of processing and issuing permits from the old to the new company is completed.
Nabakooba also pledged government’s commitment to the protection and respect of media freedoms and speech as enshrined in the constitution after several journalists were clobbered by errant security officers while on duty .
“Government of Uganda respects and takes the freedom of the media seriously.
Over the years, government has worked hard to ensure that the media industry in the country progress without any interruptions.
We must remember that Uganda has one of the most vibrant media industries in Africa. With over 300 radio stations, Uganda has an average of two radio stations per district,” the Minister stressed.
We also have several television stations and online channels as well.
