NATIONAL MEDICAL STORES WINS BEST AGENCY OF THE YEAR AWARD AT THE NITA E-GOVERNMENT EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2021
National Medical Stores has emerged the winner of the 2021 government Agency of the Year Award for their use of disruptive technologies in service delivery during difficult times when the country battled the novel-global covid 19 pandemic that let many Ugandans dead and others ill.
NMS’ Client Self-Service Portal (CSSP), an online tool that allows health facilities to order medicines and medical supplies online was considered to be an excellent innovation that helped reduce lead times in the delivery of medicines to the last mile .
The application was also considered to be a good tool for stemming corruption tendencies- since it reduces human interactions .CSSP replaced the old paper based system which was often slow and tedious.
NMS which is headed by veteran administrator Moses Kamabare also runs the Delivery Monitoring Tool (DMT), which alerts key stakeholders (DHOs, Members of Parliament, LCVs, CAOs, RDCs, among others) when NMS delivers medicines to their respective districts.
The citizenry can track and trace whether NMS has delivered medicines to their facilities in the country side on time -wheile using this tool by visiting the NMS website. The NMS Chief ICT Officer, Stephen Kisuze, also bagged the Chief Information Officer of the Year Award.
