MUSEVENI SUMMONS NRM PARLIAMENTARY CAUCUS TO DISCUSS HOTLY CONTESTED SPEAKERSHIP POSITION

President Yoweri Museveni who is the Chairman of the NRM Party has summoned the -317 strong parliamentary caucus to discuss the hotly contested speakership position before elections slated for Monday , may 24th at Kololo Independence grounds.
The caucus meeting according to an internal NRM party memo will take place on Sunday ,May 23 at State House in Entebbe. No mobile phone and guns will be allowed and the MPs will be transported by public means from Kololo to Entebbe.
“Under the arrangement made by the office of the Clerk to Parliament, you are encouraged to take a COVID-19 test today (Thursday), May 20, 2021, at Parliament,” the May 19 invitation letter signed by Justine Lumumba the SG stated.
“Fire-arms, phones, and other electronic items are prohibited. Carry your national Identity Cards, and observe the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures,” Lumumba added.
The Chief Justice is expected to preside over the voting exercise on Monday .
