Uganda ‘s footbal federation Fufa has partnered with Kiira Motors Corporation and hired the Kayoola EVS -fully electric bus to transport the visiting Djibouti national soccer team during their four day stay in the country .
A 40 strong Djibouti soccer squad is slated to play their return leg against South Sudan at Kitende Stadium on Sunday March 27th . The Djibouti players expressed happiness on seeing the Ugandan made electric bus and stated that that it was testament that Africa was on an unstoppable development trajectory .
” Vehicles made in Uganda are vehicles made in Africa and we are part of Africa. We are very proud about these products by Uganda’s Kiira Motors” the Djibouti’s team manager said in an interview.
Phase one of the kiira vehicle Plant which has been constructed by the UPDF under NEC is at 98% completion and has capacity to produce 22 buses a day and 5,000 a year . Some of the Kiira Motors products now on the market include the much famed Kayoola EVs – the fully electric buses and the Kayoola Diesel Coaches (KDC).
