Immigration Office Swings In Action Arrests Over One Thousand Illegal Immigrants In Country Wide Operations Since April 2024
Uganda’s Immigration office is conducting an operation to weed out illegal immigrants who entered the country without proper documentation and are conducting businesses among other activities .
The on going operations have been conducted in the cities and municipalities of Fort Portal ,Hoima, Lira , Kasese, Jinja, Aduku, and the Capital city Kampala, according to Simon Peter Mundeyi the Spokesman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs .
Mundeyi said the operations are aimed at ensuring orderly and legal migration in Uganda. “We do these operations daily, and we strive to ensure that orderly and legal migration happens in Uganda,” he stated .
So far the operation has netted nationals of China , India , Pakistan among others.
“We do these operations daily, and we strive to ensure that orderly and legal migration happens in Uganda,” Mundeyi, explained adding that in Apri401 foreign nationals were arrested and 123 deported ,another 538 were investigated and 22 deported in May while 100 were netted last month.
