FUFA Bows To Public Pressure Reverts To Old Uganda Premier League Format
After a protracted standoff with some clubs and a boycott of football games by the fans , FUFA has bowed to public pressure and returned to the old Uganda Premier League format of home and away games .
The decision was announced after a long meeting between FUFA, the Uganda Premier League secretariat and clubs which was held today .
FUFA President Moses Magogo said following consultations it was agreed that the top-flight league reverts to the old format.
“As FUFA, we have listened to the clubs and other stakeholders and agreed that we revert to the old format for this season. We will go back and make more reviews, further consultations and we will get back to it next season,” he said.
Eleven out of the 16 premier league clubs attended the meeting at FUFA House to resolve the stand -off.
“In today’s meeting, we have only discussed the format but the other reforms that were introduced will continue to be discussed,” Magogo said.
