The disputed President of Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), Jimmy Akena, who is also the son of former Ugandan President, Apollo Milton Obote has called on his supporters to back incumbent NRM candidate Gen. Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni for the 2021 presidential race .
Akena who declined to contest for the highest office , while campaigning to be elected a member of parliament in Lira , told supporters to vote for Museveni and the NRM flagbearers at all levels. Already the NRM has registered 12 unopposed MPs and several district leaders .
There is a reported alliance between Akena’s UPC and Museveni ‘s NRM a development that has has generated mixed reactions from some UPC party stalwarts in Lango region.
