CABINET , PARLIAMENT TO BE DISSOLVED NEXT WEEK AS 21 HEADS OF STATE ARE LINED-UP TO ATTEND MUSEVENI’S INAUGURATION
Cabinet and the 10th parliament will officially be dissolved next week ahead of the presidential inauguration .At least 21 heads of state and foreign government representatives according to Minister for Presidency Ms. Esther Mbayo are slated to attend President Yoweri Museveni’s swearing in set to be held on May 12th.
“His Excellency the President has extended invitations to 42 heads of state both from Africa and the rest of the world, and so far 21 have confirmed attendance,” Mbayo said.
Mbayo said that because of the Coronavirus pandemic the guests list has only 4,042 people that will access he Kololo Independence grounds where the swearing ceremony will take place .
Mbayo further stated that only the following categories of people have been invited for the event ; 17 delegates from each district, newly elected MPs, former presidential candidates in the January 14 polls,, Ministers, NRM CEC members, EALA MPs, a few members of the business community, a few religious leaders and a few cultural leaders.
“All invited guests will undergo Covid-19 tests before attending the function and all procedures of undertaking those tests will be communicated to them by the invitation committee that has been put in place. Those that are coming in from outside Uganda will also be catered for to observe SOPs both in terms of transport and accommodation,” the Minister said .
President Museveni hosted Ministers to a luncheon after chairing a meeting that marked the end of official cabinet meetings in this term . He thanked the Cabinet for the work down.
