The New USA Ambassador to Uganda, William Popp has made his first trip to western Uganda where he inspected projects that are funded by the US government.
Ambassador Popp said he saw firsthand how our programs provide opportunities for Ugandans and refugees alike.
“The United States provides half of the U.N.’s budget for refugee assistance and direct grants to Ugandan NGOs. This support helps over one and a half million refugees and nearly three million Ugandans,” he said in a statement .
He added , “ I also observed how our PEPFAR program supports the most vulnerable with HIV treatment and prevention and how the DREAMS program provides opportunities for thousands of young women. And I always enjoy meeting our exchange program alumni who are leaders in their communities.
It was a great first trip, and I look forward to getting out to other regions across the country very soon!”
