After Bus Collision With Passenger Railway Now Uganda Railways Corporation Moves To Install Barriers And Warning Lights At High Risk Level Railway Crossings
After the death of three ple and injury of several others following
events were deeply unfortunate. We extend our sincere concern to all those affected. Uganda Railways Corporation is actively implementing interventions to address the risks at high-risk level crossings, and procurement is already in the advanced stages.
Automated barrier systems will be installed at railway level crossings in Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono.
The barriers will include Boom Gates, Warning Lights, and Audible Alarms, and will close whenever a train approaches. In the meantime, additional manpower will be deployed at all level crossings as an immediate safety measure.
Working with the Ministry of Works and Transport, humps will also be constructed on highway approaches to selected Level Crossings to reduce vehicle speed.
