US MISSION TO LINK KIIRA MOTORS TO USA AUTOMAKERS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF UGANDA’S AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
Two American officials from the US Embassy in Kampala have visited the Kiira Motors Vehicle plant and pledged to link Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC)- Uganda’s Automotive Industry captains to USA automakers in a bid to support the development of Uganda’s nascent Automotive Industry .
The officials were Mr. Adam L. Michelow, Economic Officer and Mr.Ubaldo Nieves – Small Grants Officer at US Embassy. Apart from looking out for partnership opportunities and synergies between US companies and KMC the officials also said they would link KMC to institutions for continuous training of staff and student exchanges for students in universities who are interested to work in the automotive industry in the future .
The Kiira Vehicle Plant phase one construction works has been undertaken by the UPDF under NEC and is at 98% completion. The plant has capacity to produce 22 buses a day and 5,000 a year . Some of the Kiira Motors products now on the market include the much famed Kayoola EVs – the fully electric buses and the Kayoola Diesel Coaches (KDC).
