UCAA Hold Iftar Dinner In Honour Of Muslim Community, Calls For An Inclusive Work Environment In The Aviation Sector

Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) remains committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment that respects and celebrates the cultural and religious diversity of the workforce, the organization ‘s Director General, Mr. Fred K. Bamwesigye has stated .

Bamwesigye was speaking at a well attended Iftar dinner for the muslim community that was hosted by UCAA at its headquarters in Entebbe. He said that event will continue to grow in significance and participation  , and remain a highlight of the organization’s annual calendar.

Bamwesigye was proud to state that Uganda’s  aviation industry continues to register growth in traffic.

“ In February 2025, Entebbe International Airport registered 74,417 arriving and 86,618 departing passengers, a total of 161,035 in February 2025, which is an average of 5,751 passengers per day. While this figure was lower than the 6,991 passengers per day recorded in the previous month of January 2025, it is still above the pre pandemic figures, a clear sign of progress, the Director General stated .

Bamwesigye told his audience that  the muslim fraternity contributes greatly to the airport’s passenger traffic, especially during the Hijja period and Umrah. “Many of you are also prominent business men and traders, who frequently use the airport’s facilities. We highly appreciate your patronage,” added.

The Iftar  dinner allows the UCAA to celebrate and  with its staff the blessings of Ramadan while strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood within the aviation fraternity.

According to the Director General , Ramadan teaches us discipline, empathy, and communal harmony. It is a time to support one another, extend kindness, and uphold the highest standards of integrity and service.

“As professionals in the aviation sector, let us embody these values in our work, ensuring they reflect in our interactions, service delivery, and overall commitment to excellence as we continue to grow Uganda’s aviation industry, “ he stressed .
