NRM PARTY SECRETARY GENERAL TODWONG ,WIDOW CONNIE NAKAYENZE PAY TRIBUTE TO FALLEN UGANDA’S HIGH COMMISSIONER TO KENYA DR. GALIWANGO
The widow of fallen Uganda’s High Commissioner to Kenya and Seychelles, Dr. Hassan Wasswa Galiwango, who is the woman Member of parliament for Mbale City Hon. Connie Nakayenze has said that her husband inspired many people and has served his country diligently over the years .
Ambassador Hajj. Dr. Hassan Galiwango, Uganda’s High Commissioner to Kenya and Seychelles, passed-on at Nairobi hospital this morning .
“Every man’s life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another, its by no means that your living has given hope to the hopeless , I have no words to express what you have been to us ,you lived by example and you have left a gap that no man will ever fill in our hearts, family and in the nation, “ Nakayenze Galiwango stated .
Hon. Connie Nakayenze has been married to late Dr Galiwango for more than 25 years and they had three children.
According to the Ministry of Foreign affairs Ambassador Dr. Galiwango, was appointed to the position in June 2021. He has been serving as ambassador to Seychelles as well as Uganda’s permanent representative to the United Nations Environment Program and UN-HABITAT..
Before his appointment as high commissioner, Galiwango was Director of finance and administration for 11 years at the NRM secretariat where he served for a long time. The cause of his death is yet to be communicated by the government.
“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of H.E Dr Galiwango, High Commissioner of Uganda to Kenya, which occurred this morning,” the Minister for East African Affairs Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga twitted.
Amb. Dr. Galiwango was the first High Commissioner of Uganda to present letters of credence to the President of Seychelles, which was a precursor for closer and deeper cooperation between the two countries.
“He has been a dedicated Patriot, a seasoned Administrator, a budding entrepreneur; a sports philanthropist and promoter; a distinguished diplomat and above all, a loyal cadre of the National Resistance Movement. Much of his adult life was spent in the public service of Uganda, which contribution will be greatly missed now that he is no more, “ Richard Todwog the NRM Party Secretary General wrote in a condolence message .
“The National Resistance Movement stands in solidarity with you at this time of your loss, in recognition of his selfless service rendered to the party and country. Please accept our heartfelt condolences,” Todwong added.
