NEC’s Gen Mugira Pays Glowing Tributed To Fallen Comrade Eng. Lumu

 The  Managing Director of National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), Gen James Mugira, has paid glowing tribute to the late Eng Gerald Lumu Galiwango, the Deputy General Manager of Luwero Industries Ltd who passed away on September 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, loyalty, and service to his country.

This was during a mass held at St Jude Sub Parish Abayita Ababiri in Entebbe.

Gen Mugira described Eng Lumu as a true freedom fighter, who played a pivotal role in the liberation struggle against dictatorial regimes. General Mugira said that the late Lumu’s unwavering commitment to the cause and his loyalty to President Museveni were traits that defined his character.

Gen Mugira revealed that Eng Lumu was instrumental in recruiting youth to join the bush war, the National Resistance Army, a sacrifice that ultimately brought peace to the nation.

Beyond his role in the liberation struggle, Eng Lumu was a consummate professional, known for his technical expertise, leadership skills, and strong work ethic. Gen Mugira described him as a workaholic, dedicated to his duties and responsibilities. Notably, Eng Lumu was also known for his integrity, with Gen Mugira highlighting that he was not corrupt.

Eng Lumu worked in various capacities at Luwero Industries, including Chief Engineer, Managing Director, and Deputy General Manager, a role he held at the time of his passing. Gen Mugira, who had the privilege of working with Eng Lumu for many years, described him as a trusted advisor and a valued colleague.

Eng Lumu’s children also paid tribute to their beloved father, describing him as a loving and kind parent who provided them with education, care, and protection. They cherished the guidance and support he offered throughout their lives, and his passing has left a void that can never be filled.

In recognition of Eng Lumu’s contributions to Luwero Industries, Gen Mugira promised to name one of the company’s structures after him, ensuring that his legacy lives on.

Eng Lumu was laid to rest on September 30, 2025, in Kasama, Mpigi District.
