The NRM CEC scientific elections have been conducted without a major hitch and preliminary results show that Speaker Rebecca Kadaga and Sanjay Tanna are both leading in the two hotly contested positions in the party’s top governing organ.
Kadaga , has swept the eastern region leading in at least 11 districts and was also commanding a stable lead in Central and western regions beating her arch rival youth Tersis Namuganza with a commanding lead. Elsewhere , Mukula was was slightly ahead in the Acholi and Lango sub region , was still trailing Sanja Tanna who is still ahead in the polls.
Kadaga said that the CEC race had helped her to get to the ground and also appreciated more the people’s problems . She appreciated the scientific campaigns and polls because they have made the candidates to interface with the voters directly at the district level unlike when they come to Namboole Stadium . She also denied allegations that she was the one failing party facilitation noting that she has done her part as speaker to appropriate the required funds .
She was also emphatic that she will contest for the position of speaker of parliament for another five years .
In Kampala Geoffrey Nyakana was still trailing Salim Uhuru in another fiercely contested race .
