THE MEDIA HAS PLAYED A KEY ROLE TO STOP ILLEGAL LAND EVICTIONS-NABAKOOBA
Lands Minister Judith Nalule Nabakooba has underscored the important role the media plays for the development of communities through dissemination of news and information to fight illegal land evictions in the country .
“The media serves as an important role in providing information that the public needs to make informed decisions. Under my current docket as Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, the media is a crucial partner in our efforts against illegal evictions,” Nabakooba said.
The Minister told her audience that the Ministry of Lands is currently undertaking a countrywide exercise to ensure that communities in key areas of the country get registered land rights.
She was speaking at the AGM of the media practitioners in the Seventh day Church .
“All these are efforts that need good, objective and reliable information. President Museveni is championing a countrywide effort on wealth creation.
Wealth creation requires an informed and well updated public that can quickly utilize the available information for strategic and timely decisions, “ she stressed
She called upon the media fraternity to join the wealth creation club. “ I urge you the media personnel to form saccos and strategise to benefit from the Myoga and other programs such as the Parish Development Model.”
