PRESIDENT MUSEVENI SPEAKSOUT ON GEN .KATUMBA WAMALA’S ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION

President Yoweri Museveni has said that government already have clues about the terrorists who shot and injured senior UPDF four star General and former Minister of Works and Transport Edward Katumba Wamala, killed his daughter and driver..
“I talked to Gen. Katumba twice on the phone. He is being well- managed. We shall defeat the criminals as we did in the past. We already have clues to those killers,” he said in a statement issued at Nakasero State Lodge in Kampala.
An angry Gen. Museveni added , “The pigs who do not value life shot at Gen. Katumba, killed his daughter and driver and injured him. Condolences on the loss of the two Ugandans,” he said.
President Museveni said that besides, the new system of digital beacons on all vehicles and boda bodas will eliminate the misuse of vehicles and boda bodas to commit crimes.
“I wish Gen. Katumba quick recovery. The bodyguard should not have shot in the air. He should have shot to kill. We could be having a dead terrorist instead of scaring away the terrorists. His shooting saved Gen. Katumba by scaring the criminals away.
However, killing one or more of the terrorists would have done the same and more,” Museveni said.
Today morning at round 9am armed assassins riding on boda-bodas trailed Gen . Katumba ‘s vehicle along Kisota road in Kisaasi and shot at it injuring Katumba Wamala and left his daughter and driver dead . The injured Gen .Katumba Wamala was evacuated to Malcom Clinic in Kisaasi from where he was picked for further treatment.
General Wamala was on his way to Najjanankumbi to attend a vigil for his mother-in-law .General Wamala has served as the Army Commander and Inspector General of Police .
