OULANYAH DEATH : EC SETS MAY 26th ,2022 THE DATE FOR BY-ELECTION TO FILL THE OMORO MP POSITION
The Electoral Commission has set May 26th , 2022 the date for the by-election to fill the vacant position of Omoro Member of Parliament which was occupied by the late Speake of Parliament Jacob L. Oulanyah who was buried today .
In a communication signed by the EC Secretary , Mr.Leonard Mulekwah, the election will take place at designated polling stations in Omoro district.
” Following the death of directly elected Member of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah and the resignation of District Woman Councilor for Lalogi/Lakwaya and notification about the above position by the Clerk of Parliament and the Chief Administrative Officer Omoro District , the Commission has approved a program to fill the above vacancies , “the EC letter reads in part.
The family of the late Jacob Oulanyah told mourners that turned up at the burial of the fallen Speaker of Parliament that they intend to field one of his sons Andrew Ojok to replace his father as the new MP of Omoro. The new Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has also urged the MPs from northern Uganda to support Andrew Ojok to be elected MP.
