Parliament Has Reconsidered And Passed The 72 Trillion Budgetary Allocations For Financial Year 2024/25

There was heated exchanges in parliament this afternoon as MPs re-considered and passed the amended budgetary allocations after President Yoweri Museveni had earlier declined to sign the Appropriation Bill.
Police backed up by other security agencies were deployed in and around Kampala as Parliament chaired by the Speaker Anita Among sat to consider President Museveni’s concern in respect of the Bill which has since been passed by the majority of MPs.
This after , Clerk to Parliament re-called MPs from a month-long recess to reconsider and pass the Bill to avoid a government shutdown since the Financial year 2024/25 has begun.
MPs have appropriated Ug. Shs750 billion to priorities as suggested by the President .
